If I send money using the Friends and Family option, is it like making a purchase as far as the billing goes. In other words, if I send money, does it pass through directly to my credit card, or does the money get instantly snatched out of my linked bank account? Thanks. From what I gather, PayPal gets no fees out like a purchase transaction, but whether you card will charge depends on your card/issuer policy(s). Not sure what you're asking tho, money instantly shows up when others xfer to my PP account and when I use it to send, it comes out of my designated PP account or Bankcard...whichever is selected as the autopay.
I take it you're not talking about a transfer of money from PP to your Bankcard. That is different than F&F.

AFAIK, the only difference is who pays the fees. Normally, the seller/recipient foots the bill for paypal's cut. Friends and family means that the buyer/sender foots the bill. The source of the money is determined by your settings either way.

There are no fees only if you use your linked bank account. If you use your card for it, you will be charged a fee

I'm not asking about fees. Let's say I send $300. Normally if I buy something, let's say from eby, using paypal, I have several options on how to pay for it with Paypal credit, or my credit card, bank account, etc. Is it the same with Friends and Family? I'm thinking that Paypal Credit won't be an option. My main concern is that Paypal will go right to my attached bank account for the $ instead of my credit card. I'm contacting Paypal directly to ask the question also.

When you pay you can choose the source first.
A primary difference is that you have NO BUYERS PROTECTION and can't get a refund on a bad purchase or monetary exchange.

With PPFF, there are no senders or receiver's fees. None whatsoever for either party. Which begs the question, why doesn't everyone abuse the system to do business that way. The answer is 1. There is no buyer protection, 2. If you have too many friends or family members, your Paypal account can be suspended.

The amount will always be taken out of your set "Preferred" payment method. If you have a PayPal balance, that supersedes your Preferred payment method. In my case, I have a PayPal balance, a linked bank card and a separate linked checking account. The bank card is set as the Preferred payment method. So, if my PayPal balance (default source) is $100 and I want to send $200 to someone, then $100 will be taken from the PayPal balance automatically and then $100 from my bank card (preferred). If $100 is not available on the card, then the bank account is used to make up any difference and if my bank account doesn't have sufficient funds, then I get an overdraft fee.

Interesting discussion. I heard about Paypal Friends and Family, but your posts have explained it.
