There seems to be a very long waiting period (4 or 5 days), that your (our) funds are being held/pending. Is this just PayPal holding our money and making interest on it for 4 or 5 days? Is there a legitimate reason they are holding the funds before releasing them? I would think that money should/would be immediately accessible after an electronic transfer.

The time it takes from when you withdraw from paypal for funds to appear in your bank account is actually determined by what bank you use. Ive seen times anywhere from 1-5 days. For example my personal paypal account is connected to my chase account and takes only 1 day for my funds to become available. while my store's paypal is connected through a genesis credit union and usually takes 2 days. also used to be connected through TCf bank which took 3. I have no idea on why different banks take different amounts of time.

If you love your current bank but dont like the waiting, I also have debt mastercards for both my paypals. That way you can use the card at stores, online, or even pull the cash out of atm. ( I am referring to debt card that withdrawls from your paypal balance and not any sore of credit card)
Rest in Peace

. The transfer time is dependent on your bank, not on PayPal. I have a business account to a different location than my paying account and it only takes a couple hours in comparison to 3-4 days.

I'm talking about funds from my bank to PayPal. Not withdrawing from PayPal to my bank.

My bank instantly releases the funds to PayPal. PayPal notifies me that funds have been transferred. I can see the money/amount sitting in PayPal. It says pending 4 to 5 days. The question: why?

You're right, it's torturous going from bank to paypal. All I can say is hopefully I won't have to do it that often. I ripped paypal because the money disappeared from my bank account, but took, like you say, forever to show up in paypal.

I've never experienced that problem. I link it to my bank account and pay invoices with a zero balance in my paypal account. It clears within a day.
