I saw this post about the Mint releasing 26 ten pence designs in 2018 full article here http://www.numismaticnews.net/artic...fb-nl-180501

Have you encountered any in circulation?

Decided to share this in case anyone hasn't heard about these.

Interesting idea. I can't say I'm a huge fan, but I guess I'd have to see all the designs.
As far as encountering them in circulation, it looks as though they'd be pretty uncommon, given the mintage figures. Compare the 2.6 million total with the 135.2 million 10d coins minted in 2016. With 100,000 of each issue, a lot of people will be snatching them up quickly.

I distinctly dislike decimal coins but when I realized there were only 100k of each being minted I got all 26 coins for just over £40.
The price will only go one way. When they reach £400 they will be sold and spent on quality pre 1800 coins.
No brainer.

I'm not sure there will be only 100K minted of each. I think the mint did something that said something along those lines, vaguely, but could mean anything.

http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/...p-coins.html

"We have been told that around 2.6million of the 10p coins will be minted - or around 100,000 of each 10p - but this could be higher, depending on demand."

This is exactly what the mint is after. People going nuts, thinking they have to spend an absolute FORTUNE on coins from the mint or else they'll somehow lose out on making a killing. But their words are "but this could be higher", and demand will probably be higher.

100,000 is the MINIMUM first initial production. Once they've made their money selling coins at a massive mark up, they'll then put more out in circulation.

If you watch how the mint operates now, it's quite simple. The Kew Gardens coin showed them how to squeeze money out of people.

I bought the Kew gardens 50P from a dealer when 1st realeased for £3.50 in BU.
Maybe time to sell.
I pity the mugs who bought the no date 20p's for £300+ a few years ago which are now worth about £30.
I think I will stick to old coins.
