I'm sharing some of my ongoing research on the topic of "special medals for U.S. Government agencies". Information is provided as an overview of my "out of the box thinking/research." This is version 3.0 of the "triad".

Why was the creation of the Manufacturing Triad of the U.S. MintŪ (version 3.0) important?

It provides a high-level mechanism to organize the manufactured products produced by the U.S. MintŪ. More importantly, it provides evidence of the not well known "function 3" to manufacture "special medals for U.S. Government agencies".

It validates the research that resulted in the 2013 discovery, organizing, formation, and naming of an entire U.S. MintŪ series (President of the United States (POTUS) special Government medals (sGms)) by a numismatic researcher not employed by the U.S. MintŪ. Emphasis is made on the term "entire". See http://potus-sgm.com/.

It also aids to explain why other special medals from three U.S. Government agencies are not documented in public records. (Note: U.S. Government procurement documents are not shared with the public).

It provides evidence that not all U.S. MintŪ manufactured products require legislative approval. (The Director of the Mint approves the manufacturing order to produce the procurement request made by the U.S. Government agency.)

Recently graded/encapsulated POTUS sGm by NGC. Soon to be future "plate medal" in my upcoming book.

Fortunate to have NGC place my name (Darryl Gomez Collection) on the label at no cost to start the pedigree of the medals in my research collection.

NGC was made aware of: my two books related to these medals, ANA CoinTalk session, ANA exhibit, lectures, discussion, etc... (e.g. foremost expert on POTUS sGm series that discovered, organized, and named this US Mint medal series).

First Newport (Eisenhower Summer White House) POTUS sGm graded by NGC... One had to earn the appreciation of President Eisenhower to be awarded/gifted the medal.

An actual Presidential medal (not a challenge coin nor a commemorative coin) that is now a historical Presidential artifact!

President Kennedy appreciation medal (mintage 300) recently graded/encapsulated by NGC from my research collection. NGC provided complementary "pedigree" label on my research collection. This medal is to be a plate medal in an upcoming book of mine.

I was searching for an image within my 2017 emails. I re-read this and wanted to share great complement from a writer/publisher/expert on the 2nd manufacturing function of the U.S. Mint.

Over a fivefold price increase of the Kennedy appreciation medal during this three year period (2014 - 2017).

(The description is incorrect on the 2014 listing. My research has found that this medal was used both domestically and in other countries by President Kennedy. This medal was also provided to all who earned the gratitude of President Kennedy. The reference to dignitaries is incorrect).

The 2014 listing is the plate medal in my upcoming book (NGC MS66 specimen in a previous posting in this thread).

Updated research information from a copyright literary work I have written:

The material I previously presented indicates, without a doubt, the U.S. Mint officially manufactured and legally issued three classification of products:

1. Coins for Commerce & Collectors

2. National Medals

3. Special Medals for U.S. Government Agencies

Notice the bold words officially manufactured and legally issued . These bold words reflect that enacted U.S. federal laws (for the coins or medals themselves) authorized the U.S. Mint to officially manufacture and legally issue the coins and medals specified by the law. This covers the Coins for Commerce and National Medals.

Questions to ponder:

1. What authorization did the U.S. Mint use to officially manufacture and legally issue Special Medals for U.S. Government Agencies?

2. What does "special" in Special Medals for U.S. Government Agencies stand for? (what makes these medals special?)

3. There are two forms of authorization that the U.S. Mint used to officially manufacture [/b] and legally issue [/b] Special Medals for U.S. Government Agencies. What are these two authorization forms?

4. Why aren't these Special Medals for U.S. Government Agencies identified by the U.S. Mint?

Hint: Special Medals for U.S. Government Agencies are not patterns (P), die trial (DT), nor experimental (E) medals (these PDTE medals are to improve and perfect the execution of the U.S. Mint's primary mission (manufacture coins and medals for the U.S. Government).
