I think there are a few varieties with a 0/100 fraction, so a 1 over 0 in this spot isn't that impossible. Weird how it wouldn't be listed, though. Or it could be just an old hit in the wrong place. I'm nowhere remotely near an expert on old American copper - don't even own any. Report this Post to the Staff
Conder101 Bedrock of the Community United States 17884 Posts	Posted 05/06/2018 02:09 am It is an S-187, but I think the apparent 1/0 must either be the result of some form damage or just a trick of the eyes. Examination of examples from the Dan Holmes sale in different die states show no evidence of anything under the one in the numerator. And that includes die states both earlier and later than on the OP coin. Report this Post to the Staff

kbbpll Pillar of the Community United States 4233 Posts	Posted 05/06/2018 11:49 pm I know nothing about these coins, but my simple observation is that the gunk over around the CA of AMERICA also appears circular, so my guess is similar stuff just randomly formed next to the 1.
