Here is an example of MD and it shows on the date and mint mark, but it is not a RPM. Well if there is MD on the mint mark, then the date is usually affected as well. But MD is not the cause of a RPM. A RPM happens when the die is being punched to ID the mint it is from. RPMs show spread also: I just noticed, you can see doubling on the damaged punch on the last image I posted. (Damaged punch issues is not part of a RPM.
