Does anyone else collect the 2005 Bison Nickels? I currently got quite a few and would like to share them on CCF. I just need to wait for them to be delivered though. This one is a MS-64 with lots of Golden Tone

I collect them with the purpose of seeing how many I need to look at before I find the speared buffalo! I have about 10-12 rolls of D's and P's

How many have you searched so far? I searched about 1300 and didn't find the speared Buffalo.

Did someone say Speared Buffalo (Bison)? I have one for my Jefferson Lewis & Clark Type I purchased it, I did not "find" it in the wild.

I haven't found one yet but I bet I've searched 15-20 boxes of nickels so far

That would have made a much better reverse than Monticello, and the Jefferson obv.design so much better than the cartoonish one they chose for 2006 forward.

@oih82w8, That's a very cool speared one! I will need to get myself one of them someday. @shotgung, Wow and I thought my 1300 coins I searched was a lot.

I saved at least a couple hundred from change when they were still available in high grades. I've been meaning to whittle that down to maybe 3-5, but have been putting that project off for 9 years and counting

@jbuck, they don't need to be graded only. I just wanted to see how popular they are. I have 12 UNC/BU rolls that are put away. I used to have a total of 18, but decided to cut loose a few. @Finn235, That will be fun when you decide to search it one day. @shotgung, When you do find one, it'll be a keeper after all that searching. I had a few coins I sold that I wish I kept. They took me a long time to find, but only like an hour to sell. I used to buy no date Buffalo nickels and cherry-pick them for all kinds of errors and two feathers. I found about 15 two feathers, and the 1914/3.

Actually I found a speared buffalo shortly after they first started appearing in circulation; I've never found another. Also I keep all that are in good shape and I have a nice size herd if I do say so myself. For what it may matter I also keep all the Indian head nickels cause they have a buffalo too.

For me they are like the Bicentennial Quarters. Only have the ones in my Albums. Never even looked for the speared ones.
