Thank you for your comments. I was pretty stoked to find such a range of coins and especially happy with the 2014 'green dove' coin.
I'm happy to start a new thread and post some photos of my "odds and sods" as requestedBy MachinMachinMan. Some might be considered varieties or errors but I would be happy to hear any explanations or comments about them.

What is that extra 'rim' called? What causes it?

That looks like a misaligned die.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Found some interesting foreign coins and NCLT.

Some interesting coins!

How some of these managed to get into circulation make it a mystery...

Still yet to process the color 2 dollar coins that I found in circulation...

A combination of desperation and/or ignorance.

In response to Numisrob's comment about the number if commemorative coins increasing- it looks like the RAM are going down the same path Australia Post did years ago. Producing heaps of things to sell to collectors rather than just commemorating worthwhile events or people. In the end, I gave up actively collecting stamps because it just became too expensive to keep buying sets as they were printed. I hope RAM don't keep doing the same thing. Do we really need a new set of AFL or NRL coins every year?

In regards to how NCLT and proof coins end up in circulation, I suspect that some of them may have been stolen and then used in vending machines perhaps by kids?

Found this coin in this week's $2 coins. The fourth one in recent weeks. There were 25 coins in the roll so this one cost me $2. Not a great return but it goes into the odds and sods collection anyway.
