I bought some of these a while back and the price was not nearly so high - specifically the 10 oz. I'm surprised at the new prices given the falling spot price of silver. What gives?

I bought a few at near spot too, they were priced as a quality bullion coin, but certainly not a collector coin. I later decided to commit to the whole series in 1 oz. gold, and while the Griffin, Red Dragon, and Unicorn (and now the Black Bull) are still relatively easy to come by, the Lion in 1 oz gold is creeping up in price just like the 10 oz. and 2 oz. coins. APMEX wants a staggering $200 over spot for the gold 1 oz. Lion now. I couldn't find one in all of Canada, and had to buy from APMEX after the fact (ouch!). Lesson learned, I pre-order the new issues now.

I suspect some people may be deciding to collect the series part way through, and the demand is driving up the prices for the first design in the series.

Wow. Didn't realize these would do so well. 1st of the series usually does the best. Glad I pick one up when they first came out!
