I checked the "Post your circulation finds" and saw mostly coins.

For this thread please comment on others' finds, or post pics of tough (rare) notes you found in circulation. If you post a picture of a TOUGH note found please give a little info on where (or how) you came about the note. >>Please: no negative comments on notes you may regard as "not so rare/tough" << Thanks!

NOTE: If you have found a "keeper" note by searching large numbers of notes (10 to 1000) please post these in another thread entitled "Rare notes (bank or large runs finds)" If you bought a "keeper" note, please post in "Keeper CDN notes purchased"

This solid 8's I received in change from a nearby Shopper's Drug Mart when buying a Loto 6/49 and Lottario ticket. I couldn't believe my eyes, and it got me back into the hobby after a long period of abstaining.

Wow.... solid 8s from a Shoppers Drug Mart? I don't collect paper money, but I always check the numbers... what a fantastic find!!

Yeah, it was in 2009 (the year the note was issued) and the 6/49 ticket machine ran out of paper and I had to cough up a few more loonies to get the exact $5.00 change so I felt pretty amazed by this find. I was also a bit disappointed that the condition of the note wasn't better (as it was a new prefix that year) but I could hardly complain seeing as it came my way for face value. Really made me laugh and I couldn't resist showing friends and anyone who knew how much I loved collecting.

I had won 3rd prize (about $2000) & 4th prize ($125) about a month before finding this solid 8 radar.

But, alas, I have spent all my winnings on dud tickets since then.

Rare-Notes-Circulation-Finds!

Got this in change a few years back in TO. At the time, I knew there were probably less than 5 reported in the SNDB of the CPMF so kept it.

According to the bank of Canada
The range is as follows for the FTH Run

FTH Macklem Carney 0000000-8364999 8365000 printed
FTH Macklem Poloz 8370000-9999999 1630000 printed

In Gem the notes are $15 and $40

Despite what the BOC and Charlton say, the FTH M/C notes are very scarce, only a few have been found from a narrow 200,000-300,000 range. They are as scarce as $20 BSW, $50 AMK and $100 EKZ prefixes.

-with all due respect, your info is quite dated.

Yes- at the same time I found the note I posted, I was withdrawing large amounts of $10 notes and never found the FTH M/C (yet several of the 1.63 million M/P signature change-over). I am uncertain exactly how scarce they are but they must have been printed in only a very few short ranges.
