I don't have much to add here, except that judging by the hole at 3 o'clock in the picture, the coin appears to have been attached to a chain, and then been torn off the chain (the outer hole is broken). This may explain how it got lost, though doesn't say when. But it may have been worn (and lost) relatively recently as a piece of jewellery, and not from an old wreck after all.

It is a shame about the hole.
With Elizabeth coins the portrait always wears flat before the reverse.
Therefore a decent portrait Lizzie will command a good price.
