I run across this type of occurrence often. There's a very good explanation for why this happens.



I don't have a clue what the explanation is though.....

Someone will come along soon, I'm sure, then we'll both know...

He sees it in the center of the devices. Not doubling, more like splitting through the center, as is often seen on the zinc cents.

Sorry about the pics,I believe it to be in the T,R,and S in trust along with the W in we and the T in liberty, there also appears to be doubling on the reverse in the letters S in states.

Yes now I can see where some could be splitting but the S in states doesn't appear to be.

The devices have been flattened in circulation from getting nicked. That would be Post Strike Damage (Happened after it got out of the U.S. Mint). Worth face value since it lowers the value of the coin.

I think I see what the OP and NewMember are referring to. There appears to be a line going through the middle of each letter.
