Nasir ud din Mahmud also known as Nasir ud din Firuz Shah was the Sultan of Delhi from 1264-1266 AD. He was the 8th Sultan from the Mamluk dynasty (Slave dynasty) that ruled until 1526. Mahmud was a very religious man and spend most of his time praying and copying the Quran, leaving the state to be run by his father inlaw.

Another nice one, Ron. You seem to be diving right into this stuff. I can certainly see the appeal.

Nice one! I love these big heavy Indian silvers. I had been building a Rupee set from Shah Suri until George VI, and used one of these to open the page. Lost steam on that project however, but it's fun to see a huge page of silver coins at the end of my Indian album!

Thanks guys, they are fairly inexpensive so it's possible to build a nice set of the type. That and there is a lot of history to learn from them.

I like this one too. From the looks of it, the silver content must be pretty high rather than being debased.

Thanks Dave, I'll see if I can find what the silver content is.
