ok I am going to try one last time to get this image thing to work for me. Not sure if it's complicated or if my brain just isn't co-operating with me tonight. I have an 1858 5 cents, I would like to know if anyone can tell me which variation I have and how I learn to tell the difference. thanks for your help

Hi, malissadawn... Welcome to the forum..

Without the coin in hand, I would say it looks like a small date one, digits, seem widely spaced.

The Charlton Catalogue has five varieties.

thanks very much. I'm not so great still at spotting variations unless they are blatantly obvious. If I read enough posts in here though I might just learn something.

thanks again
