Good afteenoon all,
I normally toss the newer cents to the side and go through later for errors when I'm hunting. But for some reason I grabbed this one and looked at it. Immediately I noticed the Reverse and said ok that's just, from the wrapper, but then I turned it over to lool at,the obverse and the complete "IN" isqmissing and so,is the "L" in Liberty. What,do you all think happened here and should I hold onto it?

To CCF! Very nice find! It was Struck Through Grease (AKA Grease Filled Die). This one is a great example and should have a nice premium. And yes, hold onto it and put in a 2x2 coin flip as soon as possible! http://www.error-ref.com/struck-thr...-grease-oil/

Chefemasterj, it's caused by a Grease Filled Die, not by wear. http://www.error-ref.com/struck-thr...-grease-oil/

@Shellioness1, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree that your coin was not fully struck up because of a grease-filled die. Yours might rise to the level of enough detail missing that there would be a premium. Keeping it in a 2x2 is a good idea.
