I am not 100%, but with what I know of more recent RCM practices, these are probably legit releases.

to the CCF!! While I haven't seen these exact ones, I have seen several Canadian Bullion coins that have a similar Superman theme to them. The "S" emblem looks to match the others I have seen as well as the rest of the lettering. So I would call yours authentic. Quote: it's really Canadian coins or some kind of fiction? Yes it's really Canadian. No it is not a coin. More of a 1 oz silver bullion round. As for the fiction...well they are based on a science fiction series and character so you be the judge.

That is the 2016 $5.00 Silver Bullion S-Shield coin that a third party has colourized. There are dozens of these for sale on ebay in different designs. Here is a photo of what they looked like when originally issued by the mint.

Are most of the colorized Canadian coins done by a third party or does the RCM do some as well? Edit: Wanted to comment that some are very well done. I'd consider them true pieces of art.

RCM Doesn't colorize bullion coins. All are done by one or more third parties.

The coins the OP posted have been colorized by a German company. Technically they are defaced coins, definitely not approved by the mint. The mint has issued some coloured silver maples, I have a 2001 autumn colored maple. As far as I know the official colorized coins are done in house by the mint and not coloured by a sub-contractor.

From what I know, the s dollar coin is probably fake. I don't think the RCM would make a dollar s shield like that. Anyone got pics of the noncouloured version? Edit: Oh wait a second, both are real, just the two lines are third party. Not legal tender however. Defaced coins are no longer legal tender, so it would only be worth metal value.

Quote: o it would only be worth metal value. The metal value has always been higher than the face value for these coins.
