Thoughts on this 1987 P Lincoln with a huge crack on the reverse between the I and T.

Yep, how they usually are, on the four corners or a spiked head on obverse. These are the weakest points on the dies because of the depth of impression in those areas. It is a compacting og the metal molecules that forms this weakened state of the metal.
