I have a 1994 d penny, pretty good grade as well, and under the D, it is domed or bubbled.Ive been reading up on it and finally came across an error, it's called the Rockwell test die error. It also stated that their isn't any known examples out in circulation. If it's not this, would anyone have a idea what it might be? Sorry going without pics till I get better camera.d is raised,it is not hollow, it is solid. The D sits on top of the dome, bubble.

Pretty sure none of us will be of much help without a photo... A sketch, perhaps? Paper mache model maybe? You gotta give us something..
You say it's a dome or bubble. Meaning it's raised?

Sounds like the mint mark suffered a split plating issue:
1994-D-Penny-I-Have-A-Dome-Type-Bubble-Holding-Up-The-D-Mintmark.
Part of the coins down fall.
