Needs further investigation: weight exact diameter comparative ping tone are cheap tests. Immersion in a corrosive fluid and some subsequent wear is capable of reproducing a similar sort of surface texture as well, but I can't figure out why anyone would want to do that. okiecoiner Pillar of the Community Canada 5629 Posts	Posted 05/25/2018 05:34 am Not a particularly scarce coin (fairly common), but it looks like it was once buried (or sunken) and then harshly cleaned. Looks VF-20 or a tad higher. Since it's not one of the scarce 50 cents, I doubt that it's counterfeit. Drop it on a hard table and listen to the ring .. thud or ping.
