When dies become loose in their holder this MAD happens at the strike, they tilt slightly. It usually happens on the hammer die but can happen on the anvil die. It becomes interesting when the reverse is affected and not the obverse or both side show a MAD in different directions. An Off-Center strike generally refers to a coin struck in the chamber but not having the collar deployed(up) to make the rim. These are also called Broad strikes/out of collar strikes and actually make the coin larger, out of round. Off center refers to to at least part of the details being missing(edge letters).
