It is a 1965 Washington quarter. I've been looking online for something like this, but haven't found anything similar. The quarter is lighter than normal and missing a lot of the nickel plating. What is this called? What do you think is it's value? The colour isn't from toning.

It next a standard quarter. Smaller in size and thinner.

What do the rims look like? Can you see a copper core? I might as well put in a guess that it could be struck on a smaller planchet. Weighing the coin might give some clues.

This is the copper core that you are seeing. It is also viewable from the side of the coin.

Now I see what you mean--very interesting! Perhaps this quarter was struck on a planchet that delaminated along the copper core?

Looks to me like another example of a acid soaked coin. It does appear to be smaller in diameter and I bet it still shows the reeds on the edge doesn't it sweetammonia66?
