Pretty well used up, but a couple of anomalies can yet be discerned. First, note the severe lean to the right of the mint mark superscript. Also, the 3 in the date is clearly some sort of overpunch. Finally, the two C's in the obverse (eagle side) legend are really oversized.

All in all, I wouldn't be surprised if this turned out to be a debased contemporary counterfeit.

Have you weighed it yet? The slanted superscript is definitely out of place and similar to a contemporary counterfeit Zacatecas 1 real I posted recently. Would be very interesting indeed if this is one as well :)

Edit: upon further digging I found one that is a good match https://www.ebay.com/itm/MEXICO-186...047675.l2557

Yes, and it's actually better in that respect than I'd expect considering the apparent wear - 6.40 grams versus the specified weight of 6.76 grams.

Here's a link to a stand alone image of the one you refer to that was sold on ebay:

Comparing mine and this other, I'm nearly certain both were struck utilizing the exact same obverse (eagle side) die. The reverses are clearly different, though.

At this point, I'm leaning towards the example posted here being genuine.
