Hello everyone, first I would like to introduce myself to everyone I have been lurking on here for a while learning alot! I am sure it has been thought of but would sealing our coins with a household food type vacume bagging system be helpful to preserve say those wonderful Red cents and other high grade coins? Or perhaps using one of the new tupperware type food containers that have the latches and silicone seal around the lid to make them air tight then placing a dessicant pack in it. Would love to hear some opinions! Good and bad.

I think on another forum a long time ago, someone did a test with the food sealer and they placed the coins bare in it. In a few months they started to get all funky looking and it looked like it was having a reaction with the plastic in the bag and ended up damaging the coins.

The food service industry isn't supposed to use "PVC" anymore I heard, because, for one thing, it's more expensive to make it with that, and for the other......food coming in contact with PVC.
Sandwich ziplock bags....no PVC......cellophane wrap materials...no PVC..and newer "food" storage containers (tupperware)....no PVC.
This isn't "my" piece of info........just heard it said here before and repeating this to you.

I discovered today (after a tip from another forum) that you can use the standard flips with a food sealer with pretty nice results.

Here's a sample of some I did this afternoon.

looks great! I kinda figured it might work well as long as the material did not negatively affect the coins.

I place all my albums in zip lock bags, press out as much air as possible, thin close.
