Cracked another BU George VI roll recently... this one caught my eye, both in the grade and all the weird stuff on it. The only thing "normal" about this one is that is has the usual die clash marks on it (in the ear and the maple leaves).

Here is the coin:

I would think that the chrome plating on the obverse die failed or chipped away here? There are tons of small, flat raised elements all in the devices.

1952-BU-Cent,-A-Lot-Of-Weird-Stuff-Happening-Here...

Finally, this looks like a clash, but not of any elements on the reverse, except, for the denticles? If so, what the heck are they doing next to the effigy on both sides?

Nice one SPP oddly enough I was going through an old box of coins that I had put aside to go through later on down the road.
I also found a 1952 in a similar state

Nice to see it is not alone!!

I didn't see anything on my searches in Numicanada or Coins and Canada sites... Nothing in the Zoell catalogues as well.

Makes me wonder if it is uncommon?

I saw it on Coins and Canada site if you go to the 1952 double date it shows one on there as a die clash below the ear lobe. The reverse on my coin also shows signs of a die clash

I came across this post while looking for other errors in the 1952 series. I took a second look at my '52 pennies and found another example of this "face Mottling". Mine is a circulated cent so I was surprised no one found it before me. I have not been able to take a good photo with my iPhone yet. I will add photos as soon as I take a decent one.
