Let me know what you think. I've never seen anything like this before. I thought it was a dryer or spoon issue but it's not. It is the same size as a penny the same year. The 'in God we trust' measurements above the head means with the way it is there would be some sign of it and there isn't. Edited by RBA2016 06/04/2018 4:52 pm

I thought that too but it's the same width and shape of another penny.

I've seen this through the year many times. I always wondered it is was put in a rock tumbler? If someone would have one of these, it would be interesting to see a step by step report with images to see if that is the cause?

I agree, I had a coin shop tell me it was a failing and/or die crumbling thing but I was like ahhhhh hummmmm. He said the way the numbers and letters bubble. But I'm not sure. I never know what to look for sooooo there is that. (Dont want to talk where I don't know something, I'd rather get opinions with people who know and conclude with a majority vaote. Lol)

Damage, not an error. Local coin dealers tend to know very little about errors and varieties, you should go to an expert or a specialist for help with errors. We have a few here on this forum.
Also, you can edit previous posts, no need to correct typos by adding a new reply.

Lol thus is why I'm here. I have NO knowledge or understanding on where even to start with it. I had multiple coins I took in. This was just the odd ball one. And maybe value of a few others they seriously wanted to get out of my hand in to theirs. I've had some for a long while that were given to me.

It looks like a Dryer Coin, since the rims are banged up and flattened. It Post Strike Damage (happened after it left the U.S. Mint). Worth face value, since it's damage.
Errers and Varietys.

Where would I go to post some other 'odd balls' or is there a specific something I'm looking for. Again, some of these were given to me a long time ago (he is gone now) and told me to hold on to certain ones. I came across them and I was bit by the curiosity factor. Do I post in separate post?

RBA2016, yes. If you have other 'Odd Ball' coins, post them in a new and different thread.
