Unknown Old Asian Coins At Thrift Store

Shoesnsocks Valued Member United States 114 Posts	Posted 06/06/2018 7:27 pm I spotted these at a thrift store today. The lady said they came from an estate that was donated to the organization. The tag says " vintage coins from 1800's" On the top right coin of the first image you can see that the edge is almost folded over which I thought was kind of strange. Also the square holes are not punched out completely. Report this Post to the Staff

Sap Moderator Australia 16808 Posts	Posted 06/12/2018 8:09 pm I believe these are replicas, not genuine cash coins from the 1600s-1800s. The style of writing - especially on the Manchu side - is not correct, there's that odd edge you've already noticed, and it would be strange indeed to have five coins from a 200 year-long time period and several different provinces to all be exactly the same size and have exactly the same wear and patina.
