Hoping someone can tell me what haappened to this mint mark? Ive been "seeing things" and can see a D over S...wishful thinking for sure is it a RPM?

Im trying to do what Mr. Cooper said..."change your focus" and this old dog is having a hard time learning a new trick. I am focusing on the shape of the O in OF and the E PLURI..... they seems off. Pictures are 1000 words so I will leave it to them. Thanks for your time and help.

Yes split in the plating with zinc rot beginning under the plating. Common occurrence.

The mark on O on 'OF' appears to be a contact mark. Not a doubled die. Us usually on hub doubling you will see areas affected, not just one device. Usually a single device altered is a contact mark from another coin.

Note how many devices are affected? Sometimes it is a certain area with just a few affected. Depending on the type of doubled dies. Class 6 doubled dies. Usually note these on the date areas.

Mint mark has Split Plating Doubling, causing the Copper core to split. Now the Zinc core has been exposed and will eventually rot the Zinc away over time. http://www.error-ref.com/split-peeling-plating/
