Hello Everyone. I'm a new penny collector in Texas. I found a 1982 D penny with a error on the date and mint. Does anyone know anything about this penny?
@PennyT40, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree that your coin doesn't have an error, but rather damage to the date and mintmark. Here is a close-up view of what I am seeing:
"If you climb a good tree, you get a push." -----Ghanaian proverb
"The danger we all now face is distinguishing between what is authentic and what is performed." -----King Adz
To CCF! It's not an error. It's Post Strike Damage (happened after it left the U.S. Mint). You can see the pushed over and flattened metal on the date. Worth face value unfortunately, since it's damage.
