Fun fact, despite that fact that this token says "U.S. MINT" on it, it was found mixed in with a bag of foreign coins. Woo!

I did a little reading on the origins of these tokens, It looks like they were made at the Philadelphia mint and given out during a parade in 1882. How this one made it to the present in such great condition, I have no idea!

It still has some really nice mint luster and I heard that this token may have some value, would it be worth sending it off to ANACS or the like? Thanks!

(Also, Is the tip of Penn's nose worn or is that just the design of this token? That's been driving me crazy.)

The color of your medal suggests to me that it is one of the 20th century re-strikes in yellow-bronze vs an original from 1882.

What is its diameter?

Ah darn, I hope it's original, it's one of my favorite token finds so far.

It's about 25.55 mm in diameter, and weighs about 7.08 grams.

I know I am hitting an old topic here but I just won one of these which I assume is a restrike as I only paid $3 for it. When were the restrikes done and is there a way to tell if they are truly a restrike?
