That type was minted from 1796 to 1807. Since we can't see any numerals in the date it would be a guess to say 179x. Someone might be able to narrow in down by variety but that's tough with the level of wear.
Can you put some light on the date area and take/post a close-up image?
Farthest I can narrow it down from the images is most likely 1798 through 1800. Type 2 hair, and the reverse appears to be the type of 1799 where they were experimenting using a full hub for the reverse. One thing I will say is the drooping upper left berry suggests 1798 S-187.
I found an interesting way to read the date, which I now believe is 1799. I used an infrared light and put the coin in water, I then saw pretty clear a final "99" the 17 was worn completely off.
