I've got a 1983 DDR-001 LMC that I pulled from circulation a few years ago with a growing verdigris problem, along with some other LMC/LWCs with verdigris and crud stuck on them.
I have acetone, distilled water, and Verdi-Care, and now (finally!) the time to take care of this.
Can someone walk me through the proper way of using these products to conserve some of these coins?
Is it distilled water rinse, acetone bath, and then Verdi-Care? And how should I apply them, and for what duration?
When I use it I , acetone bath - enough to cover the coin, time depends on how bad it is but I would say an hour. Rinse in distilled water then Verdi-care as directed.
I would do it the other way around, first an overnight soak in distilled water, then acetone to dehydrate the surfaces, then VerdiCare per instructions.
