With the reverse pretty much gone, that's going to be a tough one to pin down for sure. I do think Sicily is a good guess, though.

The fabric is thick and dumpy, and there are casting sprues visible. I would look for bronze coins with similarly shaped obverse left-facing female busts, in the same size/weight range, with similar fabric and, perhaps, the remnants of sprues from the planchet casting process. The AE hemilitron from Himera, Sicily, with a nymph on the obverse, as well as the similar issues from Syracuse, are certainly good candidates.

That's a good match up, Joe, and meets the criteria - even closer profile with skinny neck, straight nose, and the projection of the headgear ("wreath"?) over the forehead. Here's one that is REAL close to the OP coin's portrait:

Darn good call. Triptolemos. Male then.

Ok so this is sicilian, but is it Roman Controlled Sicilian? or Carthage during or before 1st Punic war? Or is it the part that was controlled by the greeks?

The coin dates to c. 400-350 BC and so it predates the Punic Wars. I believe Panormos coincides with Palermo. See the "Ancient period" section here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paler...arly_history

For the eventual Roman occupation, see: http://www.forumancientcoins.com/nu...key=Panormus
