Bundling the 2017 with the 2018 sets at APMEX--not exactly breathtaking sales volume, but certainly breathtakingly above melt.

These are sold as numismatic coins to collectors, not silver bullion. A 500 maximum mintage for the reverse proof makes these very rare, though there is obviously not great worldwide demand. I think they're beautiful in both proof and reverse proof, so I purchased the two previous sets and now have this one on preorder.

They may be sold to collectors, but in reality they are freshly minted bullion coins, nicely packaged and intentionally made "rare" by releasing them in low numbers.

They could have been interesting with the 1999 or 2003 Britannia designs, as both were quite a bit prettier than this one, at least to my eyes.

Right. That's what makes their numismatic value greater than their bullion value.

I bought one when first released, I'd have to double check but I believe they reduced the price because they couldn't move them.
