I usually buy $20 worth of raffle tickets at our monthly Numismatic Society meetings. This week my investment paid off when my ticket was pulled from the drum for the big prize. I guess you could say it was a $20 purchase, which is one heckuva deal! Of course, all those other months I paid $20 and got bupkis, but so it goes....

Gradewise, I'd call this AU-55 details, with hairlines from a slightly abrasive cleaning. Still, I'll take it!

Yeah, that'll work.

It bears mentioning that gold, given its' softness, will display symptoms of "harsh" cleaning far more easily than any other metal. Somebody could have wiped that coin with a fairly soft cloth and caused the hairlines.

I got some foreign banknotes this week. The neatest of the bunch was four 1910 1000 Mark from Germany with consecutive serial numbers. Not worth too much, but pretty neat to get four in a row from 1910, all in CU.
