This is a match I believe.
Beautiful coin. I really like the reverse.

EDIT: Upon revisiting I see that I missed the weight at the top of your post.
Let's see what the pros have to say.

Sovereign should weigh about 8 grams.
Half Sovereign should weigh about 4 grams but I believe 1889 date should have shield reverse.
Likely your coin is not real at all.
We'll wait for experts to chime in.

As a full Sovereign weighing 7.99g of 22 Carat gold it is worth the gold bullion value - about GBP235 but fluctuating daily according to the gold value. It cannot be a half sovereign as that would have a shield reverse for this date.

My only concern would be whether it is genuine. The weight is no guarantee as the fakers now use tricks like a tungsten core to get the weight right. Also the figures in the date look a little large and crude - but that may just be the quality of the picture. The rim on the reverse also looks too broad.

If you know a jewellers with an x-ray machine get the gold content checked out to know for sure.

I've checked four catalogues and they all only list Jubilee Head half-sovereigns with a shield reverse - as DBM pointed out. This could be a piece made for jewellery, possibly even with full gold content.

Have it tested.
My immediate instinct is it doesn't look right.
The colour is odd. The rim too broad. The reverse design looks to be taking up too much of the field. Also; as Paddy suggests, the data figures appear a little too thick, as indeed does the lettering on the obverse.

Both Spink & Coincraft catalogues warn of forgeries of Sovereigns in this date/type range. That said, even if it is a forgery, it doesn't mean the coin is not gold. There are companies in the UAE who do a booming business selling modern reproductions of older coins where the metal content is correct, as well as the companies from China that make $2 fakes.

I would have the coin tested for metal accuracy; if your LCS has a XRF or other tester, then you will be able to confirm whether it is legitimate compositionally. As to whether it is a legitimate... minted in 1889 by an authorized mint, we would need better quality photos or take it to a trusted LCS for an opinion.

I agree on the Half... only the Shield reverse is listed in the references I have and for 1889 they were only minted in Australia and have the "S" mintmark for Sydney.
