Newbie With Interest In Ancient And World Coins

Maybe the trigger for my interest in coins was unearthing a Mexican 8 Reales coin from the 19th century 20 centimetres deep in an Asian country where I was living at that time. I couldn't believe it and started researching ... The coin (like many of its kind), must have made it on a sail boat voyage across the oceans all the way from Mexico... My imagination was spurred, my interest stirred and so I started building a small collection of coins from various auctions and sellers. Although I started with the liberty cap 8 reales coins, I quickly expanded to include some ancients (Roman & Judean mostly), and post-Medieval European coins that concur with special moments in history or special personages. I don't so far try to build sets, but focus on individual pieces... And I hope I can not only learn a bit in this forum but also contribute at some points :) Wishing you all a splendid day!
