Last night I found this coin, loose, in the bottom of a small box of old baseball cards I've been slowly selling off on ebay.
I recognized its origin immediately. It was from a small lot I had purchased at auction nearly 20 years ago. Obviously I had never identified it and gotten it into a 2x2. It's a bit of a mystery how it got so far from my other coins, but I've moved 3 times in the last 8 years, so it may have fallen out while packing, and then been dropped into whichever box hadn't been sealed up.

2 gros, Charles the Bold 1467-77, Leuven mint. Issued 1467-74. About 28-29 mm in diameter, but I don't have a weight. Central detail has worn away on both sides, but still a decent coin

Ironically, it felt that way, even though it was my own sloppiness that caused it to get lost in the first place.

Not that I had worried about it, as it's not terribly valuable in that condition.

Nice coin! I don't have the reference, but it might be attributable as Vanhoudt 33.

I don't have the reference either, but I also found that attribution on a nicer example that sold recently at Kunker, so yes, I agree.
