I have recently decided to sell some of my coins that I have multiples of and apply the money to get coins that I don't have yet. I do not feel comfortable with sending through the mail so I am going to use a local buy and sell site that way the people are local and can just meet up with me to buy or view the coins.

My questions are these:

I already have all the coins in 2x2 flips. If people were interested in viewing them should I allow them to be removed from these and if so what material is best for laying the coins out on top of that wouldn't leave little hairs and things that make it look like they've been cleaned?

thanks for any opinions or help

malissa

I would leave them in the flips. When you go to a coin show or a coin shop you can't take them out of the flips. Also, the flips don't hide anything. If your selling them on like that, I would meet with them in a public place rather than your house. You don't want someone to rob you as your there or come back another time to rob your house after casing it out thinking that your going to have rare coins to steal.

thanks for the advice. I was thinking of a public place as well just for that reason.

If you belong to a coin club, that is a good place to meet potential buyers. (Safety in numbers)

If you've ever been to a coin show you'ld notice that many dealers have 3 ringed binders. In them are those plastic sheets that hold 20 of those 2x2's. All placed in order where possible and by denomination. Normally you can look for what you want by flipping the pages but removing the 2x2 to just look is considered a no-no. I suggest you do the same. Do not allow people to just handle things unless they intend to buy. You should be able to tell the difference in just lookers and possble buyers. Maybe not but better to loose a sale here and there than to loose the coins.
