Slightly MAD obverse however do you notice how the bust flows directly into the rim? Is this from a worn die aka Die Deterioration?

Technically yes. The die has been polished out, to remove any Die Clashes left on the die. That also helps preserve the die, making it so they can get more life out of the die. Your coin is in a Late Die State (LDS). http://www.error-ref.com/thinning-a...gn-elements/

Yes. Just trying to make the die last a bit longer. Interesting to keep as a nice example, although monetarily, it doesn't really increase the value.

It is a combination of a worn die and the way the die was designed that year. The mint soon after changed the design.
