I recently purchased this 1750 Holland 14 Gulden "Golden Rider" for right around melt value. I did a little research and found out that there was a restrike in 1960 of the same coin. Is this coin a restrike or an original example? Are there any diagonostics to distinguish between the two? I think it's been cleaned, but it is still an interesting coin for melt. Thank you!

It looks too perfect to be from the period. Compare this 1760 half golden rijder.

Hi,

It must be a restrike, as the minkmark (Fish, under the 14) was only in use in the 1950's and 1960's.

It's a solid coin regardless.
