First, thank you guys for putting up with all my questions. I only got started in this because my grandma left me a bunch of coins, and I really just wondered what they were all about.

Now... just curious what would cause this to happen on Lincoln's nose, and if that date looks crooked to anyone else?

It's just a well placed hit on his nose, causing the metal to get pushed over and flattened. It's Post Strike Damage. Worth face value.

It's not in the best shape, but I am really just using it as a learning experience at this point. I was wondering how and why his nose would do that. And Idk why, but I just feel like that date is off somehow... like a little crooked or something.

Like I just said, it's Post Strike Damage. His nose took a hit, causing the metal to get pushed over and flattened. It's just a damaged coin.

So would this be a DDR? Because the last 3 columns on the reverse look like the ones on the USA coin book website?

I'm thinking this part of the design? I'm not able to access images from my phone. I'll post images later when I get home.

I'm really not trying to be argumentative. I seriously am trying to learn how to tell what is what. And I do that by asking questions, and looking stuff up. So thank you guys for being so patient with me. It's much appreciated. :) My next question is what is the dimple on the 9 caused from? I thought that was a sign of a double die?

The "9" looks normal. I think that it's part of the design.

Also consider that circulation flattens the tops of devices. Note how that area is wider. In the boxing arena of life, it took a hit.
