can anyone here tell me anything about the coin below? 1883 Dala - not sure what it's worth (if anything) what it's made out of, etc. I picked it up for a dollar at the flea market today.
This isn't a real Hawaiian dollar of 1883. The mottled, bubbly background gives it away as a reproduction; the same effect can be seen on the Hawaiian "tourist dollars" of the 1970's and 1980's, so it was probably made at the same time.
$1 is probably a fair price.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
That is a copy of a Hawaiian Dollar coin. It does not appear to be silver, the fields would not be textured if it were real, and the detail of the beard and other features of the bust are a bit too defined compared to the real coin. I think that as a copy it is only worth about what you paid or maybe a bit less.
