I found a few pennies that I know are either dipped or on a dime planchet by chance.

The 1941 is the one I'm most curious about since it doesn't seem to have any wear that shows the copper through if it was dipped. There are some odd metal marking on the back though that I cannot determine.

I post the 1953 since this one you can see some clear wear where there appears to be copper underneath. There is zero sign of this on the 1941.

I'd love your thoughts as neither stick to a magnet.

What you are asking and presenting is unclear to me.

Thank you for the comment about them being damaged. That was really helpful.

Spruett I'm asking based on the look of the 1941 does it look like it could be dipped. Unless you don't see anything unique about a silver 1941? Not sure how else to ask that?

They are damaged coins. "coated" with something like spray paint,or a slight chance plated with something. Either way it is PSD.

Solder, we used to coat cents with solder with a propane torch to make them look like dimes for the milk machine... as kids in the 60's...after we filed the rim down to size

Never tried, but have read dipping in or rubbing mercury on copper can alter the surface.

If considering struck on a dime planchet, or stock, or on foreign planchet or stock. Appearance and weight would tell the tell.

So far appearance says to me copper coin(s) altered after strike. Thanks, Doug.
