Hello everyone! I have always been fascinated by coins, but really don't know alot about errors. I did find this dime though, and I noticed it has 3 dots on the back (small grooves). I was wondering if this is an error?

@agnesb13, first welcome to CCF. Second, if you think about the reeded edge of another dime hitting this one as they are all jumbling about either in the hopper at the mint or really any other time before it came to you, I think you can envision what happened to cause these three parallel marks.

To CCF! It's just Post Strike Damage. Something dinged your coin. Possibly another coin?

Hi @trixie98. Best practice is to start your own thread rather than tacking on to a different thread. The reason why this is important is that when we use the search function to look at prior threads, coins like yours usually fall through the cracks. However, to address your specific question, your dime has a scratch next to the mintmark that is vaugely shaped like the number 7. It is spendable.

Could be a P 1 Mint. Now look for a P 2 one to match.
