Came across this and figured I'd post it because of the size. I've def seen this crack before just not this severe. Maybe a thrid the size. I pulled out a couple I saved and it's cool to see the progression. If anyone has one larger than this I'd love to see it. I wonder how much bigger it got before they retired this die.

Nice one! But to me it looks like a retained interior die break.

Look at the RIDB-1c-2014-01R. It's not the same as yours but real close.

I wish it was. This might actually be the later stage I was talking about but here is a pic showing what they mean by retained interior break

Thanks everyone. Yeah, it's pretty decent especially for a newer shield. It seems like the quality control on the newer coins, all denominations, is pretty lacking. The dimes and nickels seem to be riddled with die chips as well.
