It's nice to find a foreign coin while CRH. It's 1939 Republique (Indochine) Francaise 10 cent. *** Moved by Staff moved to a more appropriate forum. ***Edited by vietguy823 07/12/2018 12:46 am

Enjoy the moment! Your chance of finding another in your
lifetime is pratically nil. That's probably the greatest CRH find
I've seen on here in years.

I checked and believed it was nickel. I searched around for the info and found date with dots, but not anything without dots.

Quote: Is it magnetic? I haven't tested. Will do once I'm home, and to weight it.

I ask because there seems to be two versions of the coin without dots: nickel (essentially no value) and copper-nickel (decent value). The weight is listed as the same for each composition. Nickel is strongly magnetic, whereas copper-nickel is not magnetic. That should tell you what you have.

Thank you very much Spruett001 for the info. Also, I read it somewhere that there are some minted with Aluminum right? Copper Nickel and Nickel weight 3grs, and Aluminum weight 1.7grs right?

I didn't see anything about aluminum, but I wouldn't put it out of consideration with French coins of this time. For this issue, I only see dots/no dots and nickel/copper-nickel.
