You have a Broadstruck Dime. The reeding also detached during the minting process as well. I don't know what the detached reeding is called terminology wise, but it's a keeper for sure! Did you find this or buy this? http://www.error-ref.com/broadstrikes/

It was struck without the collar, so that's why it looks like a pancake.

It's aight. I was forced to buy this off ebay. I private messaged him that I would give him fifteen bucks...right now ! He came back with an offer of 14.99 and I had no choice but to gobble it up.

I thought it was a good pick up for my collection. It's purdy.

...and yes, you almost nailed it. Broadstruck and partial collar I believe.

I would have snagged that, too!

It obviously had contact with the collar because of the remnants of reeding on the reverse. It may be an extreme case of partial collar or maybe this:

http://www.error-ref.com/broadstrike-forced/

Or, it may just be termed broadstruck for being too minor. What's funny is that I also have a 1999-P broadstruck dime that shows just a little less collar contact:

1999-P-Roosevelt-Dime...what-Happened-Here-?

What's more, I paid the exact same amount for mine.

I bought it from a fellow forum member along with another error, and I think there was no shipping charged, but don't quote me on it!

I think due to the reeding being visible, you could call this an extreme partial collar, IMO this is more interesting than a regular broadstrike, the collar deployed just barely enough to keep the reverse partly contained, but did nothing to stop the full expansion of the obverse, this is a great pickup for $15!

Thanks Adam, I thought it was way more interesting than just a regular broadstrike also. Very cool piece.
