That's Post Strike Damage (it happened after it left the U.S. Mint). That's Zinc Rot. The Copper plating broke, causing the Zinc core to get exposed. The air reached the Zinc, and the corrosion process began.

A Texas Cent is a regular cent that has been pounded between two straps of leather or other protective cushioned material. The details of the coin won't be affected but it will slightly thin out and get larger.

Edit: I ask myself why someone would do this. I can only guess that Little Joey in his garage needs a part time job.

Don't see any zinc rot but I do see a misshapen Lincoln
that appears to have been pounded.
