Came across this dollar bill and the serial number seems to not be printed in a perfectly straight line. Not only that but the number 8 seems smeared. Can anymore give me more information on this please.

The digits ate close to repeating, but close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades..

The serial numbers are on turning wheels and are applied to the half-sheets at a high speed. Sometimes the numbers do not lineup exactly perfect and a turned or stuck digit can result....I believe that's why, on occasion, the serial numbers may appear not perfectly straight. I do not know for certain, but I suspect the digits are individually inked, and that may explain why some digits appear darker, or in the OP's case, over inked.
