I was going through some old coin rolls of my dads and found a couple rolls of steel cents. this one was very different as its steel but has a copper sheen in the center. Any ideas as to why?

Definitely not rust, looked at it through the microscope at every angle and light and is definitely a copper sheen and totally different than all the ones with similar forms of rust.
It got me thinking... It was suggested that my silver 1956 penny was a high school science project where the teacher plates copper coins... With that said, Maybe that is the same scenario as your 1943 penny. Is it possible a teacher plated an old copper coin not knowing it was the "Holy Grail" penny of that era?
